About me

My Story

Hi, My Name Is Paulette

I grew up and live in London where I went to school, college and university. I stayed in higher education and my entire career has focused on widening participation, student success, and education strategy.

In August 2020, as the world spiralled into chaos, I had my most pivotal life experience yet. I became a mummy. It’s not been an easy journey, but it has been perfect.

I think I will always be a fairly private person, however, a series of changes in my life created an urge to record my thoughts on life, publically. I want to capture important moments, share my work, and remember the journey. I’m excited to find my tribe in the process!

Biography

2023 : Ready to share

I’m often asked ‘how do you do it all?’ and I respond honestly – “I’m not!”. I, in no way, want to glamourise busyness and overwhelm, but after a particularly difficult time trying to balance all of the ‘things’ at the end of 2022, I decided that I would share my journey of being a working single parent trying to create an abundant life for me and my daughter.

2022 : Launched a podcast

This World is Ours was birthed from a place of empowerment and vulnerability. Together with Dr Whitnee Boyd, who lives in Texas, we have created a space to have fun, celebrate friendship, and to uplift Black women.

2020 : Became a mother

In August 2020, I gave birth to my daughter ‘V’. Motherhood is the most incredible experience and I am so grateful that I get to share it with my little girl. Its challenges hit me hard and I felt so lonely – despite having a support network. I want to share those feelings to hopefully help others having similar experiences, in silence.

2017 : Founded a social enterprise

I run Leading Routes, which supports and celebrates Black scholars from Y12 to early career researchers. We also deliver training and consultancy to help organisations create racially equitable cultures and practices.
